Abstract
V diplomskem delu je predstavljena razširitev zmožnosti programirljivega logičnega krmilnika. Za razširitev smo se odločili, ker krmilnik v osnovi ne omogoča obravnave kompleksnih algoritmov odločanja, ki so bili bistveni za to diplomsko delo. Opisana je kompleksnost programiranja v standardnem jeziku za programiranje krmilnikov. Predstavljena je oprema potrebna za vzpostavitev razširitve zmožnosti, opisan je komunikacijski protokol, ki omogoča prenos informacij. Opisan je tudi princip zunanje storitve, njen način delovanja ter vse potrebno za njeno vzpostavitev. Pri kreiranju algoritma, ki ga programirljivi logični krmilnik sam po sebi ne more zagotavljati smo uporabljali primer sortirnika paketov v pametnem skladišču. V praktičnem delu je predstavljena uporaba celotne verige razširitev na fizičnem sistemu sortirnika paketov. V okviru eksperimentalnega dela je prikazan primer delovanja fizičnega sistema v primeru nalaganja paketov v sistem in odvzemanja paketov iz sistema.

Title:Expanding Abilities of Programmable Logic Controller by Use of External Software
Abstract:
In this final thesis we have decided to expand abilities of programmable logic controller by use of external software. The main reason for using the expansion was that programmable logic controller can not provide the necessary abilities to allow solving of complex algorithms, which are essential for this thesis. We have decribed the complexity of common programming language which is usually used in programmable logic controllers. We have presented the necessary hardware and also the required communication protocol. The principle of external software including the way it works and how to establish it is presented in this thesis. When creating an algorithm which is being used on external software, we have decided to rely on the practical example of parcel sorter in a smart storage unit. In the practical aspect of the thesis we have presented the entire chain of expansions using the physical system of parcel sorter. Experimental part of the thesis shows an example of loading and unloading parcels from the storage unit.
