Abstract
Podjetje Unichem proizvodnja kemičnih izdelkov d.o.o. se med drugim ukvarja s proizvodnjo rodenticidov, katerih glavno vezivo je parafinski vosek. Vosek obdelajo v ekstruderju, kjer se meša s preostalimi sestavinami do končnega produkta. Diplomska naloga je namenjena preučevanju reoloških lastnosti različnih parafinskih voskov ter določevanju ustreznih procesnih spremenljivk, ki bi privedle do produkta ustrezne kakovosti. Ugotovil sem, da lahko v procesu spreminjamo temperaturo ter hitrost vrtenja vijaka ekstruderja ter s tem spreminjamo obnašanje voskov. Viskoznost ter druge reološke lastnosti voskov so namreč močno odvisne od temperature in tudi od strižnih hitrosti, ki nastopajo v procesu. Rezultati so pokazali, da bi bilo treba za ustrezno obdelavo preučevanih parafinskih voskov glede na referenčni vosek povečati temperaturo procesa. V primeru enega preučevanega voska pa bi zadostovala tudi sprememba v hitrosti vrtenja vijaka. Nižja hitrost vrtenja vijaka ekstruderja bi glede na moje izsledke omogočila uspešno obdelavo tega materiala.

Title:Optimisation of process variables using rheology analysis
Abstract:
Unichem proizvodnja kemičnih izdelkov d.o.o. is a company that, among other things, produces paraffin wax based rodenticides. Wax is being extruded, where it mixes with other ingredients to make the product. This research project studies rheological properties of different paraffin waxes and tries to determine process variables, that would lead to a quality product. During my research, I found that temperature and screw speed are the two varables, which can be set to change the behavior of waxes in the process. Viscosity and other rheological properties of waxes depend greatly on temperature and shear rates, that are present in the process. The results show, that in order to successfully process studied waxes, temperature would have to be increased, comparing to the wax of reference. In the case of one studied wax, a change in the screw speed would suffice. A lower screw speed would lead to a successfull treatment of that specific wax.
