The thesis discusses the biodynamic beekeeping as part of biodynamic farming. Guidelines and restrictions concerning biodynamic beekeeping, the current situation, and possibilities for its future development are presented. The thesis is pointing out various physio-geographical, social-geographical factors and influences that are imminent in this agricultural sector. Although Slovenia has favourable physical geographical factors for beekeeping, especially in field of vegetation and climate which are deteriorating due to anthropogenic influences. On the other hand, the economic aspect of the biodynamic beekeeping is important and unfavourable.
As a result of this and the numerous guidelines that certified biodynamic beekeepers must follow currently, we do not have a single certified biodynamic beekeeper in Slovenia who could sell his bee products under the Demeter brand. Positive trend in biodynamic beekeeping in Slovenia is not expected. It is likely that smaller amateur beekeepers will continue with beekeeping in biodynamic way. Major change in this would be possible only with adequate financial and political input.
