Abstract

Title:Design of a contemporary collection of multifunctional outer clothing
Abstract:
The purpose of the master's thesis titled »Design of a contemporary collection of multifuncitonal outer clothing« is the design and production of a ready-to-wear collection of outerwear. Multifunctionality is an important concept in the field of sustainability, which is more and more present in the fashion industry. A multifunctional garment is a garment that has several functions and thus increases the value and meaning of the product. With its versatility, one multifunctional garment can replace several others. It is useful for different purposes, occasions and seasons. By designing multifunctional clothing, the designer wants to present the importance of sustainable thinking to the consumer through the clothes. Raising awareness among consumers about the issues of the fashion industry is absolutely necessary nowadays, as excessive consumption and purchases of clothes pollute the environment. The collection of outerwear is designed with a combination of multifunctionality and creative inspiration from the hip hop fashion of the nineties and modern streetwear fashion. Garments, which have a primary function of protection against external influences, have increased value and modernity through multifunctionality. The development of silhouettes, based on the starting point, is conditioned by functionality and wearability. Each silhouette consists of two pieces of clothing that complement each other and form a whole, but can also function independently. The collection is presented from the very beginning - from the starting point, the target group and the selection of colors and materials. This is followed by the development of individual silhouettes from collages to prototypes and then the final realized garments. Finally, the outerwear of the collection is presented throughout a photographic lens.
