Abstract
Za spremljanje izhoda iz mikroprocesorskih naprav, le-te priključimo na računalnik, ki z ustrezno programsko opremo deluje kot terminal, ali pa na terminal v obliki samostojne enote. V diplomskem delu je opisan razvoj preprostega znakovnega terminala, ki prejete ASCII znake prikazuje na računalniškem zaslonu. Znakovni terminal je, kot samostojna enota, zasnovan v programskem jeziku VHDL in implementiran v programirljivem vezju FPGA, na katerega je preko VGA priključka povezan računalniški monitor. Terminal sprejete ASCII znake v grafični obliki prikazuje na zaslonu. Implementirane so tudi nekatere ubežne sekvence in kontrolni ukazi, s katerimi, poleg brisanja besedila, nastavljamo še območje prikazovanja besedila ter barvo besedila in ozadja, na katerega pišemo. V diplomskem delu sta podrobno opisana razvoj in testiranje terminala na razvojnih ploščah Terasic DE0 Nano in MiniZed.

Title:Character terminal for microprocessors in FPGA device
Abstract:
To monitor the output from microprocessor devices, we connect them to a computer, that acts as a terminal with the appropriate software, or to a terminal as a stand-alone unit. The diploma thesis describes the development of a simple character terminal that displays received ASCII characters on a computer display. The character terminal, as a stand-alone unit, is designed in the VHDL programming language and implemented in an FPGA programmable circuit board, to which a computer monitor is connected via a VGA connector. The terminal displays the received ASCII characters in graphical form on the screen. Some escape sequences and control commands are also implemented, which, in addition to deleting text, allow us to set the text display area and the colour of the text and the background we are writing on. The diploma thesis describes in detail the development and testing of the terminal on the Terasic DE0 Nano and MiniZed development boards.
