Abstract

Title:Friction of piston seals in hydraulic cylinder and long-term test
Abstract:
Various methods are used for power transmission, including hydraulic. Such systems consist of primary, control and auxiliary components and actuators, of which hydraulic cylinders are the most commonly used. The present work addresses the problem of friction, sealing and durability of piston seals in hydraulic cylinders. From a review of the literature, it was found that several factors affect the properties of sliding hydraulic seals. We have developed two test systems that we have used experimentally demonstrate that the shape and material of the seal have an effect on its friction and durability. We have demonstrated that the force of the third type of piston seal varies with sliding speed. In a long-term test with three different types of seals, one seal failed. We found that a seal with a higher frictional force sealed better but wore out faster.
