The dissertation addresses the current problem of technological unemployment, which arises as a result of continuous technological development and the use of more and more automated processes in various workplaces. The trend of capitalist replacement of human labour with machinery, emerged during the first industrial revolution in the 18th century, which drastically changed production processes, jobs and the role of the worker. This process of change continues to this day. A historical sociological overview will be given of the processes of change in production and the over-qualification of workers that occur as a consequence of this capitalist introduction of machines into the field of human labour, starting in the 18th century, until we come to the question »Where do we go from here?«
