Retirement is an important life transition that is advisable to prepare for. In my graduation thesis I write about retirement, old age and ageing, when to retire, about life after retirement, preparing for retirement, older workers, their rights, about their discrimination, about organizing work for them, about syndicate and social work in the workplace. I conducted a qualitative survey among older workers, in which I was interested in how they are informed about their retirement and what influences their decision on retirement time, what is the preparation for retirement in companies like, what are the different forms of employment for older workers provided by the employer and how are they preparing for retirement in their private life. The results show that older workers are well informed about their retirement, they receive information from the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute and the human resources department. The decision on the time of retirement is their personal decision, and it is influenced mainly by the amount of the pension. Companies do not organize preparations for retirement. They also do not employ a social worker. The syndicate does not have a role in preparing for retirement, or the workers do not know its role because they are not members of it. Partial retirement is not being considered by workers and will not be decided. The employer's position on partial retirement is unknown. Older workers do not know the adjustments or incentives that the company would offer to keep employees in the company even after retirement, or these adjustments and incentives in the company do not exist. After retirement, they will not cooperate with the company, they will only keep in touch with their colleagues. When it comes to retirement, they look forward to their free time and are concerned about their health. They prepare for their retirement by saving money and taking care for their health. After retirement, they plan to pursue hobbies, work at home and generally live an active life.
