Abstract
Diplomsko delo zajema analizo in primerjavo moškost iz dveh mitologij, in sicer germanske – Siegfried v boju z zmajem in slovanske mitologije – Princ Ivan in Koščej nesmrtni . Teoretsko izhodišče dela bo vprašanje moškosti in moške spolne vloge, v okviru izbranega germanskega in slovanskega mita.

Title:A comparison of male characters from the Slavic and Germanic myths of heroism
Abstract:
The dissertation covers the analysis and comparison of masculinity in comparison of two mythologies, namely Germanic - Siegfried in the fight with the dragon and Slavic mythology - Prince Ivan and Koschei the deathless. The theoretical starting point of the thesis will be the question of masculinity and male sexual role within the framework of selected Germanic and Slavic myth. The reason for choosing these two myths was that despite coming from different mythologies, they have common archetypes. Carl Gustav Jung named one of these: a shadow, a hero, a good old man ... The basic purpose of the task is to explain the concept of masculinity, the male sexual role. Analysis and comparison of sexual roles of individual characters and the necessary environment. The analysis of the environment will cover the influences of key agents (family, peers, etc.) that were part of socialization. The analysis of gender roles will cover how individual male characters accepted gender roles, common archetypes that emerged through socialization, and stereotypes of male gender roles. The final hypothesis is that both male mythological characters, despite coming from different mythologies, represent the hero and the “ideal” of the hegemonic man. By analyzing the professional literature, I will analyze the factors that influenced the environment in which the individual acted, gender roles and, consequently, directly and indirectly influenced the formation of "heroic" male characters.
