Carved inscriptions in Slovene on a bridge over the Močilnik, a stream below the village of Slap near Vipava, and on a commemorative plaque on a building in the centre of the same village that used to be an agricultural school from 1873 to 1886, are proof of the use of Slovene in important public places. The inscriptions are valuable proof of the public
use of the language, its development and different functions.
