Abstract
V prispevku je predstavljena problematika določanja števila Slovencev v Srbiji in v zvezi s tem z določevanjem njihove identitete ter identitete izseljencev nasploh. Skozi predstavitev zgodovine migracij Slovencev v Srbijo je predstavljen njihov sedanji položaj, in sicer problematika ohranjanja kulturne (samo)zavesti in vpliva na kulturo in znanost v Srbiji. Na koncu so nakazane smeri razvoja slovenščine in slovenistike v Srbiji.

Abstract:
This paper starts with the question of the number of Slovenes in Serbia, and with the question of their identity. Related to this issue, the question of the identity of immigrants in general is also discussed. In addition to the history of the migration of Slovenes to Serbia, their current status and their culture are represented. An important question in the article is the possible impact of Slovenes on Serbian culture and science. Finally, some future directions of Slovene and its study in Serbia are given.
