Neonicotinoids are novel nicotine-like systemic insecticides. In recent years, their use has negatively impacted pollinators, making it important to monitor their presence in the environment. Electrochemical sensors provide an alternative to chromatographic methods for their determination, but are not yet widely and commercially available. In this work, I tested the modification of SPE electrodes with different nanoparticles by cyclic voltammetry and chose molybdenum modification as the best option for the determination of thiamethoxam. The optimal pH for the determination of this analyte is in the neutral range. The type and concentration of the supporting electrolyte also affect the current response and reduction potential. I have also demonstrated the linear response of the electrode to thiamethoxam by square wave voltammetry.
