Slovene songs of rebellion have a long, if unbroken, tradition: from 16th-century Puntarska to Partisan (anti-fascist) songs to 21st-century songs of rebellion written in times of protest against corrupt political elites and other ills in society. The article focuses on the lyrics of such songs (especially the songs by the most recent authors) and the common thread of all of them: the struggle for freedom.
