The undergraduate thesis deals with religious poetry of poets Judah Halevi and Gorazd Kocijančič. Their work is first regarded within the history of Jewish and Christian religious poetry and general characteristics of religious or spiritual and, within it, mystical poetry are described. In the comparative part, the thesis deals with the way both poets' works reference the heritage of mystical poetry and biblical heritage, especially the Book of Psalms. It also analyses the works from the perspective of naming God, the directions of speech and it points at the main themes that they have in common – spiritual journey and battle, exile and the relationship with the word.
