Abstract

Title:Tribological properties of wooden polymer composites made out of polypropilene
Abstract:
Use of biological materials in polypropylene composites due to proven improved properties. However, very little data on their tribological properties such as friction and wear can be found in the literature. The latter is very important, as these properties determine the behavior of materials in real applications and indicate their applicability in industry. In this final paper, the tribological properties of wood-polymer composites made of polypropylene as well as recycled polypropylene were investigated. In terms of friction and wear, composites with a higher wood fiber content performed better in the experiment. Composites made of pure polypropylene matrix, against recycled matrix with the same wood content by weight, also showed better tribological properties.

Keywords:polypropylene, recycled polypropylene, wooden composite, wear, measurement of friction
