Abstract
Uvod: Kanabinoidi imajo zagotovo terapevtski potencial.

Title:Opinions and experiences of parents of children using cannabinoids or other cannabis products for treatment : master thesis
Abstract:
Introduction: Cannabinoids certainly have therapeutic potential. Some research suggest that cannabinoids could be of great help in a variety of conditions and diseases, especially in childhood epilepsy, which is resistant to treatment. Purpose: The purpose of the master's thesis was to assess the quality of life and health status of children with epilepsy or other developmental disorders already treated with cannabis and cannabinoids and to determine the changes in quality of life and health status after the introduction of this products. Methods: The descriptive method of work was used in the theoretical part. Both qualitative and quantitative methods of work were used in the empirical work. The measurement instruments were a questionnaire and an interview for parents of children. The number of returned questionnaires was 64 and 9 interviews were conducted. Statistical analysis was performed with the SPSS program, and the analysis of interviews was performed using the content analysis method. Results: Quantitative results show that of all participants (n = 64), 33 were male and 31 female. Most children were in the age group 6-11 years. Most parents indicated that the child had neither a bad nor a good condition before, but the average tends to be in a worse condition. A questionnaire measuring the quality of life in different areas showed that children's emotional functions have the best average. Most parents estimated that their child is now slightly better than he was before the introduction of cannabinoids. Neither parent, however, gave estimates that represent any deterioration. The results of the qualitative research give us an insight into the personal experiences of parents and their children. The analysis of the content of the interviews showed us the characteristics of the children, the condition before and after, everything related to their illness, preparation and decision for cannabis therapy, and advice for other parents and health professionals. Discussion and conclusion: We found that children were largely in poor health before the introduction of cannabinoids and/or cannabis products. However, after the mentioned products were included in the child's therapy, the parents describe the improvements in several aspects of the child's life. One of the conclusions of our thesis show also that, it is necessary to continue research in this area and provide appropriate special education and training for medical staff.
