Abstract
Glavna tema diplomskega dela so poznorimske stenske poslikave v rezidencialnih prostorih s podrobno obravnavo stenskih poslikav dveh najdišč.

Title:Late Roman wall painting: Relevant examples and main trends
Abstract:
The main topic of the thesis are Late Roman wall paintings with a detailed discussion of the wall paintings in the residential spaces of the two sites. One is located in Ephesus, Turkey, where I focused on residential areas, and the paintings date from the 2nd century AD to the 4th century AD. The second site is Piazza Armerina – Villa del Casale in Sicily, where the site represents a unitary complex of a rich villa and where paintings date to the 4th century AD. I have considered the paintings found in Ephesus as a whole in the catalogue, but in the comparison, I only mention paintings belonging to the Late Roman period. At both sites, in Ephesus and Villa del Casale, imitation of opus sectile or cladding of marble slabs appears to be very frequent. Compared to Ephesus, Villa del Casale has paintings that are noticeably more complex and richly decorated.
