Abstract

Title:Extrusion of filament from mixture of PVA and biobased residual material
Abstract:
In this diploma thesis we made a filament from polyvinyl alcohol and ground hazelnut shells. We chose the latter because it is one of the biobased residual material that can be completely degraded and would otherwise be thrown away. The filament was made from both powdered input materials, mixed in different concentrations and granulated; the resulted granules were extruded. For the resulting filament we performed analyses of mechanical properties and checked the homogeneity of the material under a microscope. We found that are mixtures up to 30 % suitable for the production of filament, but the mechanical properties worsen with increasing proportion of hazelnut shells. After the experiment, we made suggestions for possible improvements.
