Abstract

Title:Standardization of multi-axis linear systems for handling and assembly
Abstract:
Linear units are used in industry as basic building blocks for the development and construction of multi-axis manipulators in service and assembly operations. It is crucial to choose the right size of linear unit that can overcome the desired loads and achieve expected life. There are many procedures for determining the size and types of linear units and they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer To this end, each company develops it's own platforms and computational methods to determine the appropriate linear units for the development of specific service and assembly devices. These procedures are usually not standardized and are a burden on the designers of such systems, and time consuming. The diploma thesis therefore first deals with several calculation tools from different manufacturers in which the advantages and disadvantages are highlighted and compared. This serves as a basis for the development of new concepts for determining the appropriate linear units and their drives with appropriate computational support. The main part of the task is the development of a strategy for fast and efficient selection of linear units and drives based on spreadsheets. These will make it easier and faster to determine the size of linear units according to rated loads. The tables will serve as a standard process of determining linear units in the case of multi-axis manipulator and allow quick selection of associated drives (electric motors and reducers). The method of determination is accelerated by the proposed procedure from a few hours to approximately 5 minutes.
