Abstract
Uvod: Dojenje predstavlja naraven način hranjenja novorojenčka in dojenčka.

Title:Ankyloglossia and breastfeeding : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Breastfeeding is a natural way to feed newborns and infants. However, it can also be a challenge when problems arise, what also includes ankyloglossia or tongue-tie. Ankyloglossia is a congenital anomaly characterized by an abnormally short lingual frenulum. Purpose: To study the impact of tongue-tie on breastfeeding. In doing so, we focused on the problems encountered in breastfeeding due to tongue-tie, and use of frenulotomy or incision of the lingual ligaments, which affects the improvement of breastfeeding process. Methods: In the diploma work, a descriptive method was used with reviews of the professional and scientific literature. Literature collection took place between December 2020 and June 2021. The literature was obtained using the PubMed, Cohrane Library and CINAHL databases. Results: Studies show that tongue-tie affects breastfeeding problems and that frenulotomy improves the breastfeeding process. Discussion and conclusion: Ankyloglossia can lead to early weaning, to sore and damaged nipples and to small amount of milk in the mother, while in the newborn, there are difficulties in coordinating sucking, swallowing and breathing due to limited movement of his tongue. Frenulotomy is a simple and save procedure that improves the breastfeeding process and alleviates the problems associated with it.
