If technologies for smart houses were science fiction decades ago, today they are present in almost every home. In the thesis, we present the evolution of the smart house concept, its advantages and disadvantages, and its impact on our lives. The practical part describes the development of a prototype system based on speech recognition. At the same time, the result of our work proves that with some computer knowledge and inexpensive components, it is possible to assemble and develop our own smart home voice management solution that is flexible and allows further upgrades. The central part of the system consists of an Arduino microcontroller and the speech recognition hardware module based on acoustic sound analysis. Once the voice command is recognized, a predefined action is executed. The operation of the prototype was tested and compared with the existing related solution. We have achieved that spoken commands are well recognized and can trigger appropriate actions in the smart house. Ease of use of the prototype and its acceptable comparability with much more expensive related solutions can also be considered remarkable achievements.
