In her Master's thesis the author focused on the needs of the parents with child with ASD, ID and other combined disorders in the support group. She was interested in what aspects of needs in support parents highlight. The theoretical part covers the characteristics of families of children with special needs and the revival of a parental couple and types of help. The data in the empirical work were obtained by the author through an in-depth semi-structured interview with the parents who were attending the support group. The empirical part itself includes a detailed presentation of data processing using the basis of theory. The author thus acquired six important categories that represent the needs of parents for support and in the support group. The categories are: Family of children with ASD, ID and other combined disorders, Family relationships and family network, Parent couple, Diagnosis, acquaintance and treatment of a child with ASD, ID and other combined disorders, Family social network and Support group for parents of children with ASD, ID and other combined disorders. The categories are divided into smaller subcategories and supported by existing literature. The field of needs for parental support is more researched in foreign literature, but the field of needs of parents in the support group is still a rather gray spot in the research world. The Master's thesis thus contributed to further research to design appropriate models of support groups for older children with ASD, ID and other combined disorders.
