Abstract

Title:The influence of website color on marketing
Abstract:
Each color affects our perception and well-being somewhat differently. This is why we often use it when creating websites. It also has a great impact on marketing. The sale of a product is influenced by quite a few factors, such as e. g. price, content, appearance and many others. The color of the product is one of the traits that at first glance does not seem that important, but it simulates subconscious associations to different traits in the costumer. These can be simple examples, such as orange juice, with which we immediately think of orange packaging, as this is the color of the fruit, but there may be slightly more psychological effects e. g. a red Coca-Cola drink, which increases our appetite and simulates the desire to consume the product. I tried to prove the influence of website color on marketing by conducting an analysis and a survey. I analyzed 400 websites, which I classified into 20 categories, and each had 20 of the most recognized brands. By doing this, I wanted to find out if each industry has a specific color that they use on their websites. With additional survey, I further researched one of the categories where ony one color was not determined. Respondends helped me come to the final conclusion of whether color is really as important in marketing as designers think, or is price more important.
