Abstract

Title:The impact of the covid epidemic on the satisfaction and living needs of employees when implementing the work from home
Abstract:
After the Covid epidemic was declared by the government in Slovenia as well, various mandatory regulations and restrictions were introduced, later followed by a total lockdown. The researchers at the Chair of Spatial Planning concluded that the epidemic had a significant impact on the behaviour of most residents in Slovenia and decided to prepare within the ARRS project an survey on the impact of the epidemic on the satisfaction and life needs of employees when implementing work from home. In addition to basic demographics, place of residence, family, household members and number of children attending school, the topics we were most interested in were overall satisfaction with working from home (WFH), adaptation of residence to WFH, investment in ICT, home adaptation to working online, etc. The results of the survey show that respondents have quickly adapted to the situation with the epidemic, to the change of work location and the transition to digital work processes. Importantly, the majority of the population still lives in single-family homes, where they were more flexible in setting up home offices or adapting the floor plan. The fact that most respondents were employed in the tertiary and quaternary sectors was related to a higher proportion of daily work completed from home and higher satisfaction with WFH in general.
