Introduction: Autism is a set of characteristic cognitive impairments that include impaired social interaction, communication, intellectual impairment, and repetitive behavior. Among the negative consequences is the frequent dysregulation of emotions, which manifests itself as aggressive behavior. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present the aggressive behavior in children and adolescents with autism and to present knowledge of autism and aggressive behavior in health care based on a review of certain literature. Methods: We used the review of the literature on autism and aggressive behavior. We searched for English scientific and professional literature in the following databases: CINAHL with full text, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library and Cochrane Library Searching for suitable literature lasted from March to August 2021. Results: Aggressive behavior in children and adolescents with autism is demonstrated before the age of six, socio-demographic data and gender do not justify the occurrence of aggressive behavior. If emotional sensitivity is present in a child and adolescent with autism, a slight change in his routine can lead to aggressive behavior towards himself or others. Aggressive behavior can be expressed verbally or nonverbally. It manifests itself when a child or adolescent with autism experiences stress or discomfort. This shows not ensuring the adequacy of his needs and desires. In medical treatment, aggressive behavior is a common occurrence. When a child and adolescent with autism visit the health facility fear and discomfort may be shown. The role of nurses is regular autism training to ensure a quality, professional and safe work process. Discussion and conclusion: By aggressive behavior, children and adolescents with autism show presence. The role of nurses is to recognize the health condition and take active action. With regular education of medical staff, we offer patients professional and quality medical treatment.
