Introduction: Since 2020, research has been focused on determining the impact of covid-19 on pregnancy and foetal development. Covid-19 positive pregnant women are at higher risk than pregnant women without a proven infection. The data show that the higher frequency of premature births was due to the deterioration of the health of the pregnant woman and the fetus. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to study the factors and complications that occur after infection with covid-19 in pregnant women, and to present the specifics of the newborn of covid-19 positive pregnant women. Methods: A descriptive method with a review of scientific and professional literature will be used. We will use various domestic and foreign databases to search for literature, such as COBIB.si, CINAHL, Medline, SpringerLink and Google Scholar. The literature was searched using the following keywords in Slovene and English: “pregnancy”, “influence of covid-19 on pregnancy”, and »influence of covid-19 on foetal development «. Results: The articles we have included in the thesis are mostly at the second and sixth hierarchical levels. Some 17 codes were identified. The first category includes the codes we set when reading the literature on the most common symptoms in a covid-19 positive pregnant woman. The second category combines codes that define how covid-19 affects the foetus. The third category combines codes that describe the psychological health impact of a covid-19 positive pregnant woman. Discussion and conclusion: We found that covid-19 affects preterm birth, due to complications in the pregnant woman or foetus. Future studies could also include the period of puerperium and the impact of covid-19.
