Abstract
Namesto objektivnih meril kariernega napredka in zaposlitvene varnosti so zaposleni danes motivirani s subjektivnim kariernim uspehom in zagotavljanjem varne zaposljivosti.

Title:Development of a motivational model of career change
Abstract:
In response to changing economic conditions, people today are developing a new career perspective that includes a desire to take control of their careers and make career changes according to their interests. Instead of objective criteria of a career advancement and job security, workers are increasingly motivated by a subjective career success and an assurance of employability security. By taking responsibility for their own career development, they improve their career capital and increase their own competitiveness in the labour market. The purpose of this research paper was to examine the process of voluntary career change and to use a qualitative approach in order to develop a comprehensive motivational model for such career change. Ten individuals who decided to change their field of work of their own volition participated in the research. The findings suggest that the decision making during the process of career change can be influenced by both personal factors and factors related to the individual's work environment. Despite the existing external and internal obstacles they faced, all participants rated the career change process as a beneficial experience that positively impacted both their personal and professional lives. They relied on factors of external and internal incentives to overcome obstacles and persist on their newly adopted path. The benefits of this study lie in clarifying the process under research, particularly in terms of understanding the motivation for such a decision and identifying the specific challenges of this process along with ways to overcome them. The latter can assist both individuals considering a career change and professionals working with people who need professional support during this process.
