This thesis explores childhood as a social and personal construct, which is vast, complex and multi-layered topic; it is limited and oriented mostly by those aspects, which lead to understanding the practical part of this masters’ thesis. The theoretical part first researches, how the perception of childhood changed through the history; what follows is an attempt to explain, how the early experiences, which often stay with us in adulthood, affect the development of a personality with the help of various theories, including psychoanalytical theories. The description of the practical part of the thesis includes wondering about the nature of our perception, the symbolism of light; and to reflect the child as a reoccurring motif in my own work in its own approach. I concluded the theme description of my drawings and prints with thoughts about the social aspects that are present in my work. I went on to a longer description of own drawing and graphical technical procedures, which are an important element of my art practice
