The aim of the diploma work was to investigate the problem of diarrhea in calves with the help of scientific articles and professional literature. The factors influencing the occurrence of diarrhea, the clinical signs and the preventive and curative measures were studied and the data from the home farm were analysed. The factors influencing the occurrence of diarrhea were studied. These include care of calves at birth, housing and feeding of calves, and personnel caring for calves. The major infectious agents of diarrhea were listed and described. These include rotaviruses, cryptosporidia, Escherichia coli, coronaviruses and coccidia. Prevention and treatment of diarrhea were also described. The farm and the technology of calf rearing in the old and new barn were presented. We found that the morbidity of calves in the old barn was higher than now in the new barn. So the results show that calves in the new barn no longer die of diarrhea, the course of diarrhea is milder, and treatment by a veterinarian is no longer necessary. Moving the calves to a new barn has had a positive effect on calf health and thus on the profitability of the breeding, which is reflected in lower losses, lower treatment costs, and less labor. All our assumptions that the calves were infected in the old barn, that the health status was worse there and that there are several types of diarrhea, their symptoms and preventive measures were correct.
