The first excavations on Brinjeva gora took place in 1953 under Stanko Pahič. In the next few years,
prehistoric and late antique coarse pottery was being accumulated at a high pace, from usually
stratigraphically disturbed layers. The prehistoric pottery, along with finds from the cemetery, gave a
pretty clear chronology of the prehistoric settlement. On the basis of the late antique pottery however,
one of the first attempts to create a coarse pottery typology was undertook. But the material has never
been fully published and examined to the extent that Pahič himself wanted. In this thesis I will examine
the pottery from thrench 42, which is therefore a step towards a more complete picture of the pottery
assembalage, and an attempt to understand the function of Brinjeva gora in late antiquity.
