Abstract
Vgrajeni sistemi so vseprisotne naprave v našem življenju. Morebitne zlorabe vgrajenih sistemov imajo lahko resne posledice, zato je njihova varnost ključnega pomena. Diplomsko delo predstavlja podrobnejši vpogled v varnost vgrajenih sistemov. Na vgrajene sisteme preži veliko število nevarnosti. Napadi lahko ciljajo programsko ali strojno opremo. Napadalec lahko med drugimi izkoristi sistem s postopkom branja vsebine pomnilnika, izkoriščanjem komunikacijskih protokolov ali vnosom napak v vgrajeni sistem. Z uporabo različnih varnostnih postopkov, ki smo jih predstavili in analizirali, se lahko odpravijo varnostne pomanjkljivosti. Postopke je treba izvesti na programskem, strojnem in fizičnem nivoju. Začne se na najnižjem nivoju z uporabo pravilnih komponent. Z metodami, kot so zagotavljanje celovitosti, avtentikacija in šifriranje, zagotovimo varnost programskega dela. Fizično pa lahko vgrajeni sistem zavarujemo z izdelavo varnih ohišij. Pri razvoju vgrajenih sistemov si lahko pomagamo s testnimi izpisi, ki pa lahko predstavljajo varnostno tveganje. V praktičnem delu smo zato kot primer rešitve izvedli varno serijsko komunikacijo, ki v vgrajeni sistem vnese višjo stopnjo varnosti. Seveda absolutne varnosti ni, se pa lahko temu približamo še z realizacijo ostalih predstavljenih metod.

Title:Security of Embedded Systems
Abstract:
Embedded systems are ubiquitous devices in our lives. The potential misuse of embedded systems can have serious consequences, so their security is of paramount importance. This thesis presents a closer look at the security of embedded systems. Embedded systems are exposed to a wide range of threats. Attacks can target software or hardware. An attacker can exploit the system by, among other things, reading the contents of memory, exploiting communication protocols, or injecting faults into the embedded system. By applying the various security procedures, we have presented and analyzed, security weaknesses can be addressed. The procedures must be implemented at the software, hardware, and physical levels. It starts at the lowest level by using the right components. Methods such as integrity assurance, authentication, and encryption are used to ensure the security of the software part. Physically, we can protect the embedded system by building secure enclosures. Test printouts can be helpful in embedded system development, but they can be a security risk. Therefore, in the practical part, we implemented secure serial communication as an example of a solution that provides a higher level of security for the embedded system. Of course, there is no absolute security, but we can get closer by implementing the other methods presented.
