Introduction: Pregnancy is a period of great simultaneous physical, hormonal and psychological changes, including in sexuality. The frequency of sexual activity in pregnancy decreases, but it does not mean that the couple is suddenly without sexual needs. The popularity of sex toys is growing, their main purpose is a positive sexual experience. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma work is to investigate the use frequency of sex toys in pregnancy, as we have not discovered any Slovenian or foreign research on this topic. Methods: In the first part of the diploma work a qualitative research method of systematic review of scientific literature was used. In the second part, a quantitative empirical research method was used based on a survey data collection technique. 843 women participated in the research. Results: During pregnancy, sex toys were used by 26,2% respondents, and most often they chose to use them due to diversification of sexual life, greater arousal, pleasure and sexual satisfaction. More frequent was the use of toys together with a partner (22,5%) than the use alone (9,8%). The most commonly used type of toys are the ones which stimulate the vulva and/or vagina. 98,6% respondents were satisfied with the use of toys. About sexuality and sexual use of toys in pregnancy 6% of respondents talked to healthcare professionals. Discussion and conclusion: Sexuality and the use of sex toys during pregnancy should be more frequently included in the medical treatment of a pregnant woman. Only by knowing a wider range of sexual behaviors can midwives and healthcare professionals understand an individual's sexual behaviors, feelings, problems, and at the same time provide women with quality information and advice targeted at each individual/couple. Quality counseling encourages the establishment of safe sexual behaviors and satisfying sexuality for both the individual and the couple.
