Abstract

Title:
Marine aquaculture: challenges and problems
Abstract:
The purpose B. Sc. Thesis is to present one of the biggest producers of human food - mariculture and to describe problems and challenges to which it is faced. The main focus are the most common problems that the mariculture is faced with: fish escapes, diseases and parasites, water pollution and release of dangerous substances into the environment, influence of wild animals on farmed fishes and lack of space and effects of public opinion. These are also the main the main criticisms that make mariculture considered harmful to animals and the environment. Much can be changed and improved by improving the way of fish farming, with modern models of fish cages, better quality feed and higher living standards for animals. There are many inventions on the market with which mariculture companies are changing the world of marine aquaculture and raising their mission to a higher level. There are already plans for the near future to make mariculture even greener and more environmentally friendly, while at the same time producing enough fish to meet ever growing needs of human population.
