The consequence of the rapid development of tourism in the last century is its increasing pressure on the natural, cultural, and social environment. Sustainable tourism aims at reducing these negative impacts. The purpose of this work was to analyze the state of sustainable tourism in the Municipality of Kamnik. The information presented in this work was obtained through a literature review, as well as an interview with an employee of Kamnik’s tourism, sports, and culture office. The findings were that sustainable tourism is well developed in the municipality. However, room for growth still exists. The most outstanding examples of sustainable tourism were the thermal baths Terme Snovik, and the hill cabins of Pravljica na Veliki planini. Both of these are recipients of the Slovenia Green Accommodation certificate, which is a part of the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism. Maintaining a well developed system for drinking water receives a lot of attention in the municipality. Additionally, the system for handling garbage is also well developed. In recent years several measures were implemented to increase sustainable mobility in the municipality. Kamnik’s tourism, sport and culture office is being managed efficiently, and is attracting many tourists to the area. However, further development is required to enhance the accessibility of tourist spots to the disabled.
