Ogledalu je človek že od prvih dni naše zahodne civilizacije pripisoval različne mitološke in nadnaravne lastnosti. Običajni človek je v ogledalu prirejal samega sebe, filozof pa je namesto o narobe obrnjenem posnetku originala razmišljal o ideji objekta, ki se je zrcalilo v svetu onkraj ogledala. Od Sokrata in Platona naprej je človek v zrcalih spoznaval samega sebe, umetnik pa je v njem poleg sebe spoznaval še okolico, v kateri je živel in ustvarjal. Z ogledali si je umetnik pomagal razširjati in spoznavati realni in likovni prostor ter postavljal vprašanje o zrcalu in odsevu kot membrani med svetovi.

• Title: A REFLECTIVE MEMBRANE- The Painting as Agency Inbetween Worlds

Abstract

Various mythological and supernatural qualities have been attributed to the mirror since the first days of our Western civilization. The common man arranged himself in the mirror, and the philosopher, instead of looking at the wrong-turned image of the original, thought of the idea of an object mirrored in a world beyond the mirror. From Socrates and Plato onwards, man got to know himself in mirrors, and in addition to himself, the artist got to know the surroundings in which they lived and created. Through mirrors, the artist helped to expand and comprehend the real and the artistic space, and asked the question of the mirror and the reflection as a membrane between worlds.
