The present Final Thesis focuses on recently emerged climate movements uniting the youth in their fight against the climate crisis. In 2018, then 15-year-old Greta Thunberg started Fridays strikes in front of the Swedish parliament on her own. The news on her solo endeavours to convince Swedish politicians about the seriousness of climate change flooded the social media and reached millions of people worldwide. Within months, a newly formed movement Fridays for Future became global. Globalisation, new technologies and social media enable new ways of communication and youth participation in social action and politics. In Slovenia, a youth-led movement »Mladi za podnebno pravičnost« formed as a response to global actions. They take part in international school strikes and state a fair transition towards a sustainable society as their main long-term goal. Not only did globalisation connect people by means of communication and by reducing cultural differences, but also by a shared fear and sense of our own endangerment. Although negative effects of climate change have already been predicted decades ago, younger generations are now experiencing them and do not hesitate to take action.
