Abstract
Magistrsko delo obravnava pojavnost internaliziranih čustvenih in vedenjskih težav otrok in mladostnikov.

Title:Internalised emotional and behavioural problems of children and young people from the viewpoint of selected professionals from various educational institutions in Slovenia
Abstract:
The master's thesis discusses the incidence of internalized emotional and behavioral problems of children and adolescents. The theoretical part is focused on the emotional and behavioral problems of children and adolescents in the broadest way. In the following part, the factors that influence the development of such problems are presented. After that the focus is on educational institutions and their importance on the emergence and recognition of internalized emotional and behavioral problems. I also present the importance of quality and integrated pedagogical work. The theoretical part is concluded with an important emphasis on the prevention. In the empirical part, the views of ten pedagogues employed in various educational institutions in Slovenia on children and adolescents with such problems are explored. The results show that all participating pedagogues notice internalized emotional and behavioral problems in the population they work with. They recognize a wide range of internalized problems. Anxiety, eating disorders, self-harming, depressive problems or disorders and withdrawn behaviors are the most common. Their experiences, needs as well as reactions, when confronted with children or adolescents with internalized emotional and behavioral problems, differ mainly according to the educational institution where they work. Interesting differences also occur in the types of support and help provided by the covered educational institutions. There is a lack of literature and research about internalized emotional and behavioral problems in Slovenia, so the contribution of this work will be to raise awareness of the importance of this topic, which can help pay more attention to vulnerable groups of children and adolescents with internalized emotional behavioral problems. These are often completely ignored until their problems escalate and become troublesome. However, many studies show that such problems have serious consequences for a child or adolescent and their development. And that’s why it is important to detect them early.
