Abstract
Diplomska naloga analizira in primerja motive nasilja ter njihovo (etično) vlogo v dramah britanske dramatičarke Sarah Kane (Razdejani, Fedrina ljubezen, Razmadežni) in slovenskega dramatika Matjaža Zupančiča (Vladimir, Hodnik, Shocking Shopping).

Title:The Motif of Violence in Selected Plays of Sarah Kane and Matjaž Zupančič
Abstract:
This Bachelor’s thesis analyzes and compares the motives of violence and their (ethical) role in the plays of the British playwright Sarah Kane (Razdejani, Fedrina ljubezen, Razmadežni) and the Slovenian playwright Matjaž (Vladimir, Hodnik, Shocking Shopping). Based on the professional literature, O nasilju – priročnik za usposabljanje, it first defines violence and gives examples of its many forms. Then it briefly presents the biographies of the authors and the contents of the selected plays and focuses on presenting specific motives for violence, comparing them, determining their role in the texts and exploring in detail whether the plays also contain an ethical point. The thesis finds that violence is the central motif of the dramas of both authors, and with it they shock readers/viewers over and over again with the intention of making them start thinking about the theatrical experience. Through their characters, they present their own view of the world, highlight social issues and criticize the system and modern man living in it, avoiding moralizing or giving a certain ideological solution, but only pointing out the lack of ethics in today's world.
