Abstract
Uvod: Radioterapija je poleg kirurgije in sistemskega zdravljenja ena od vrst onkološkega zdravljenja, katere namen je bodisi uničenje maligno spremenjene celice ali zmanjšati tumor ter s tem težave, ki jih le-ta povzroča. Za uničenje malignih celic lahko uporabljamo obsevanje s fotonskim ali z elektronskim žarkovnim snopom, odvisno od lege in globine tumorja. Z elektroni obsevamo predvsem površinsko ležeče, s fotoni pa globlje ležeče tumorje. Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je prek sistematičnega pregleda literature predstaviti obsevanje z elektronskim žarkovnim snopom, kdaj se uporablja, njegove prednosti in pomanjkljivosti v primerjavi s fotonskim žarkovnim snopom. Cilj diplomskega dela je predstaviti potek obsevanja z elektronskim žarkovnim snopom, lokalizacije, pri katerih se uporablja tovrstno obsevanje, ter primerjava s fotonskim obsevanjem. S sistematičnim pregledom literature želiva predstaviti razlike, ki se pojavljajo v izvedbah obsevanja s planiranimi oziroma z neplaniranimi elektroni. Metode dela: Pri pisanju diplomskega dela sva uporabili deskriptivno metodo s sistematičnim pregledom literature. Podlago za pisanje predstavljajo strokovni in znanstveni članki, ki so dostopni na svetovnem spletu v slovenščini in angleščini. Iskanje literature je potekalo od novembra l. 2020 do marca l. 2021. Rezultati: Predstavili sva ugotovitve člankov, uporabljenih v sistematičnem pregledu. Poudarek je bil predstaviti 3D tiskanje individualnih zaščit na posebnih 3D tiskalnikih in predstaviti uporabo bolusov pri obsevanju z elektronskim žarkovnim snopom. Predstavili sva tudi primerjavo elektronskega in fotonskega boosta. Razprava in zaključek: Po pregledu sva prišli do ugotovitev, da se pri obsevanju z elektronskim žarkovnim snopom za oblikovanje polja vse bolj uporabljajo planirane 3D-tiskane zaščite iz različnih materialov in ne le iz standardne Woodove zlitine. Posledično 3D-tiskane zaščite zagotavljajo večjo natančnost v pokritosti PTV in so varnejša oblika uporabe od zaščit iz Woodove zlitine. 3D tiskanje na posebnih tiskalnikih se je izkazalo kot dobra alternativa tudi pri izdelavi bolusov, saj omogočajo boljšo homogenost doze in pokritost PTV.

Title:Modern approaches in electronic beam irradiation : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Radiotherapy is one of the types of oncological treatment, beside surgery and systemic treatment, the purpose of which is the destruction of a malignantly altered cell. Irradiation to destroy malignant cells can be used, with photons or electrons, depending on the location and depth of the tumor. Electrons irradiate mainly superficial tumors, while photons irradiate deeper tumors. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma work is to present, through a systematic review of the literature, radiation with an electron beam, when it is used, advantages and disadvantages compared to the photon beam. With a systematic review of the literature, we want to compare irradiation with planned or unplanned electrons. Methods: We used a descriptive method with a systematic review of the literature. The basis for writing our diploma work is professional and scientific articles, which are available in Slovenian and international bibliographic databases. We searched for the literature from November 2020 to March 2021. Results: We have presented the findings of all the articles used in the systematic review. The significance was on presenting 3D printing of patient’s specific protections on special 3D printers and on the use of boluses in electron beam irradiation. We also compared electron and photon boost. Discussion and conclusion: Through the review, we came to the conclusion that in the case of electron beam irradiation, planned 3D printed protections from various materials and not only from the standard Wood’s metal are increasingly used to form the field. As a result, planned 3D printed protections provide greater accuracy in PTV coverage and are safer alternative than Wood’s metal protections. 3D printing on special printers has also proven to be a good alternative in the production of boluses, as they allow better dose homogeneity and PTV coverage.
