Abstract
Prikazali smo pohitritve v primerjavi namenskega računskega vozlišča s prenosnim računalnikom in sekvenčnega programa v primerjavi s paralelnim programom. Primerjali smo čase izvajanj z uporabo različnega števila niti za izvajanje programa.

Title:Simulation of diffusion of local anesthetics through the neuronal membrane
Abstract:
In the thesis we are solving the problem of numerical solving of the diffusion equation in the case of the passage of local anaesthetics through the membrane of the neuron. We have developed an algorithm to simulate the passage of local anaesthetics and corresponding software code for sequential and parallel execution of the simulation. The software code was developed in C programming language and then parallelized using the OpenMP library. The result of the thesis is a program that simulates the passage of local anaesthetic through the membrane of the neuron. We showed improved execution speed when using dedicated computational node in contrast to consumer laptop computer and also between sequent program solution in contrast to to a parallel one. We have also compared the run times using a different number of threads in parallel programs.
