Abstract
Le-to presega golo funkcionalnost in vstopa v polje abstrakcije.

Title:Where the garment meets the sculpture
Abstract:
The master thesis Where the garment meets the sculpture is a project that explores the relationship between voluminous clothing, body movement and kinetic sculpture. It has been conceived with an intermedia approach, as the project combines fashion design, costume design, video, sculpture and sound design. The project explores the use of unconventional materials in clothing design and opens the duscussion on personal space and communication. With an experimental approach, I have tested new possibilities and approaches in conceptual clothing design, which questions its function and form. The line, as the main building element of texture and surface, or textile space, is materialized in the sculptural clothing with the use of elastic, which explores the limits of wearable and focuses on a new way of shaping the surface with this material. In its number and density, the elastic line around the body creates the space that creates an invisible personal bubble and thus draws attention to its necessity. The master thesis is placed in the context of modern avant-garde fashion design, as I experiment to create a new way of wearing and the purpose of clothes. It transcends mere functionality and enters the field of abstraction. In addition to sculptural clothing, the aim of the master thesis is also to show in a video, the context and an additional dimension of clothing. The video is part of an installation showing the viewer the movement of static sculptural clothing. In the conclusion, the entire project shows an exhibition in the gallery of the Layer's House in Kranj and includes the installation of two sculptures dressed in sculptural clothing and a projection of two art videos.
