In this thesis, we examine the working principles of wind turbines and commercial market for small wind turbines. It is cruicial for the wind turbines to operate at low wind speeds, that is why we design our own wind turbine blades using tip speed ratio or predetermined rotational speed. We determine the blade geometry using desired flow kinematics and then 3D draw the blades along with velocity triangles. We made wind tunnel measurements on a small wind turbine, analyzing energy and kinematic characteristics and used the data to propose a better blade design.
