Electric batteries are devices that storages electrical energy. They appear in many different applications such as: battery storage devices, electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, mobile devices, etc. Lithium-ion batteries are the most widely used among them, as they are more powerful compared to other types, due to their high specific power and energy. In addition to many positive properties, due to chemical instability, they can ignite relatively quickly, which I explain further in the thesis.
The thesis focuses on issue of lithium-ion batteries from the point of view of a fire safety. The high energy density and use of flammable electrolytes pose many challenges in the development, storage and recharging of new lithium-ion batteries. A research that I did about fire safety of lithium-ion batteries was made based on several different professional articles and reports from organizations that are dealing with fire safety of lithium ion batteries.
