Unmanned aerial vehicles or drones are changing the way of modern warfare. Because of their unique characteristics, they are considered as very effective weapons in armed conflicts. Their usage covers more than just combat operations, but also reconnaissance, image capture, detection, logistical support,… Due to their widespread use, they present a major threat to battalion battle groups. In order to defend themselves against such threats, battalion battle groups must be armed with suitable defensive weapons (electronic weapons, artillery,…). The Diploma Thesis analysis the efficiency of unmanned aerial vehicles and also the efficiency of battalion battle groups and their interrelation. This interrelation is alaysed on a case study of armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh between Armenia and Azerbaijan, where the use of drones has brought decisive superiority and consequently a victory for Azerbaijan.
