Abstract
Dandanes so polimeri zaradi svoje vsestranskosti uporabljeni in/ali predelovani v številnih industrijah. S poznavanjem lastnosti polimerov in njihovega obnašanja med predelavo in preučevanjem procesov predelave lahko pridobimo različne produkte z zelo uporabnimi lastnostmi. V svojem diplomskem delu sem predstavila povezave med reološkimi lastnostmi ter molekulskimi masami polimernih talin in raztopin. Molekulska masa je namreč ena najpomembnejših lastnosti polimerov, saj je od nje odvisna marsikatera lastnost polimera (viskoznost, stopnja kristalizacije, odpornost na kemikalije …). Višja molekulska masa je povezana z boljšimi fizikalnimi lastnostmi, zato težimo k uporabi le-teh, saj predstavljajo velike prednosti pred tradicionalnimi materiali. Medtem ko je poznavanje reoloških lastnosti polimerov ključno za njihovo uspešno predelavo, pa lahko iz posameznih reoloških značilnosti pridobimo tudi informacije o njihovi molekulski masi oziroma razlikah med istovrstnimi polimernimi materiali.

Title:Effect of molecular weight on the rheological properties of polymer melt and solutions
Abstract:
Nowadays polymers are, because of their versatility used and/or processed in numerous industries. With knowing polymer properties and its behaviour during processing and studying effect of processing parameters on the properties of polymer product, we can obtain very useful properties for different products. In my dissertation I presented correlations between rheological properties and molecular weight of polymer melts and solutions. Molecular weight is one of the most important properties of polymers, as many physical properties are influended by it (viscosity, chemical resistance, christallinity...). Higher molecular weight results in better physical properties which we tend to attain and that is why they represent advantages over traditional materials. While knowing rheological properties of polymers is crucial for their successful processing, we can also acquire informations about their molecular weight or changes between indentical polymer materials.
