Abstract
Magnezij je za človeka nujno potreben mineral, saj ima pomembno vlogo v številnih procesih, ki se dogajajo v telesu. Tveganju za pomanjkanje magnezija se izognemo z jemanjem prehranskih dopolnil, ki vsebujejo magnezij v različnih oblikah. Določamo ga lahko klasičnimi metodami ali z instrumentalnimi metodami. V diplomskem delu sem se osredotočila na dve metodi in sicer na AAS oz. atomsko absorpcijsko spektroskopijo in na kompleksometrično titracijo. Sedmim vzorcem sem določila vsebnost Mg in jih primerjala z deklarirano vrednostjo. Primerjala sem tudi, ali obe metodi dajeta podobne rezultate. Pri kompleksometrični titraciji sem predhodno izvedla še standardizacijo EDTA s cinkom za določitev točne koncentracije EDTA.

Title:Determination of magnesium in food supplements
Abstract:
Magnesium is a vital mineral for humans, as it plays an important role in many processes in the body. The risk of magnesium deficiency is avoided by taking supplements containing magnesium in various forms. Magnesium levels can be determined by classical methods or by instrumental methods. In this work, I have focused on two methods, namely AAS or atomic absorption spectroscopy and complexometric titration. I have determined the Mg in seven samples and compared it with the reported value. I have also investigated whether both methods give comparable results. In the case of complexometric titration, I also performed a standardization of EDTA with zinc beforehand to determine the exact EDTA concentration.
