Home care is provided by retirement homes. One of the major causes of stress for coordinators is the planning and scheduling of the caregivers' working hours. The schedules are in most cases made by hand and copied from week to week with minor corrections. The problem of creating a schedule for home care is like the vehicle routing problem with time windows, to which we add some additional restrictions. In the thesis, we present the creation of a schedule with the help of a constraint problem-solving tool – OptaPlanner. We describe the specifics of the tool, input data preparation, main challenges with the implementation, and how the choice of different constraints and their weights affect the final solutions.
