Abstract

Title:Biological buffers
Abstract:
This work describes what biological buffers are, what properties they have, their chemical structure, how we obtain them and under what type of conditions they work best. It also describes how buffers and pH affect protein properties and how they affect plant and animal systems. Proteins are altered or even denatured at different pH, buffers can be used to maintain them at the right pH. Buffers are important for the proper functioning of almost all organisms and are often used in laboratories to maintain the pH at the desired value.

Keywords:pH, proteins, acids, bases, biological buffers, hemoglobine
