Abstract
V diplomskem delu sem predstavila prometno varnost pešcev v Sloveniji v obdobju od leta 2010 do leta 2019. Najprej sem opredelila hojo kot obliko potovanja, njen pomen v sodobnem prometnem sistemu in ključne značilnosti. Predstavila sem definicije prometne nesreče in razložila koncept prometne varnosti. Naštela sem dejavnike tveganja in izpostavila tiste, ki so najbolj pogosti.

Title:ANALYSIS OF PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IN SLOVENIA
Abstract:
In the diploma's thesis I presented pedestrian traffic safety in the period from 2010 to 2019 in Slovenia. Firstly, I defined walking as way of transport and form of travel, talked about its importance in the modern traffic system and listed key elements. I focused on the definition of traffic accidents and explained the concept of traffic safety. I listed the risk factors and highlighted the ones that are most common. I divided pedestrians into four different categories, among most vulnerable ones I listed children, elderly population and people with various disabilites. I also talked about pedestrian infrastructure and listed infrastructure areas pedestrians use most often. At the end of the theoretical part I presented approaches and measures to improve pedestrian safety. In the second part of the diploma thesis, I analyzed various data and presented them both in tables and graphical form. My focus was to try and answer to the hypothesis in which I assumed that we have made progress in the field of pedestrian traffic safety in Slovenia in the past decade. I tried to confirm or reject this hypothesis with detailed analysis, paying attention to the number of pedestrians involved in traffic accidents, fatal accidents, causes and factors for accidents, age of participants, location of accidents, consequences and many other data. In the last part I added an analysis of traffic and health risk and I also mentioned other risk indicators. Based on the analysis, I discused about my hypothesis and also gave my opinion about approaches on how to improve pedestrian safety even more.
