The needs for energy are growing, but a tendency to use green energy sources is the same. Hydrogen technologies offer many advantages and so far seem to be a suitable solution to meet environmental requirements. This work examines current technologies of electrolysers, based on which numerical models for life cycle assessment of individual technologies are set up. A mutual comparison between technologies is made regarding production of 1 kg of hydrogen. It was found that the operation phase of electrolysers is the most critical from the point of view of environmental impacts, and that the choice of Slovenian energy source is decisive. The most sensible source to power an electrolyzer is hydro energy, while it does not make sense to use a Slovenian energy mix.
